Baby Gracie

Hello All,

On a beautiful Sunday morning in February (9th) three of the most beautiful baby goats arrived at Golden Curls Ranch. A lovely, spunky girl, then a handsome hardy boy and finally a dainty, adorable sister. Mama Becca was a real trooper she kept her cool even when grandmama Angie seemed frazzled! As weeks went by the babies grew stronger and more playful. Grandmama Angie bragged that Mama Becca gave her three (not just two which is the norm) wonderful baby goats to everyone she met.

Well, life has a a way of putting you in your place. One morning while daddy Brady, uncle Brownie, aunt Christina and Mama Becca were eating breakfast the first little one named Gracie hopped out of the stall. Our dog, Lee Marvin's natural canine instincts kicked in and he attacked her. She lived 23 hours longer and gave Grandmama Angie time to say goodbye complete with tears and hugs. Gracie is buried in our Rainbow Bridge by a huge Cedar tree. Lessons were taught and hopefully learned in this brief encounter with Gracie. First, you cannot control or change an animal's natural instincts. Respect them for who they are and what they were born to be. Secondly, you dont have to be on earth for a long time to touch someone so deeply. Finally, we will also remember Gracie and because of this unfortunate event we will cherish Denny and Dee all the more.
